Whiteman Park is a 4000 hectare piece of bushland located close to the Swan Valley in Perth's North. As well as being a biodiversity hotspot offering many nature activities it also houses a wildlife park and several museums. Entry is from Beechboro Road (off Tonkin Highway) or Lord Street. The park is open from 8.30am until 6pm every day of the year except Christmas Day and entry is free.

The Children's Forest is an easy 200m walk from the Village and 50m from the Mussel Pool area. The Forest itself extends for about 300 metres north to south but because it is made up of a series of zones, each with separate gate entries.

Picnic Shelter U Whiteman Park Reservations

The business was built up by the Whiteman family and Lew Whiteman spent a great deal of time and effort turning the area around Mussel Pool into a picnic area for the public. Lew sold the brick business in 1966 and spent his retirement collecting interesting items related to the history of the area and further developing the area around the pool.
