Inside Rockfield Studios, the legendary Monmouthshire recording retreat
Hemispheres is the sixth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in October 1978 by Anthem Records. After touring to support the band's previous release, A Farewell to Kings, during which the group gained popularity in the UK, Rush started work on their next album.

During the months of June and July 1978, Rush recorded at Rockfield Studios before the vocals were applied to the music in London's Advision Studios. The finishing touches were done in August at Trident Studios, also in London. This ambitious three-month project saw the band members of Rush take only one day off.

Rush then re-located to the U.K., where the band recorded its next two albums, 1977's A Farewell to Kings and 1978's Hemispheres, at Rockfield Studios in Wales. The music on those two albums ventured more in the direction of progressive rock.

Rockfield Studios is a residential recording studio located in the Wye Valley just outside the village of Rockfield, Monmouthshire, Wales. It was originally founded in 1963 by brothers Kingsley and Charles Ward. Recording studios Rockfield is a two-studio facility consisting of The Coach House and The Quadrangle.

Rockfield Studios, the famous Monmouthshire recording studio, is to be immortalised in film. The studio was used by Rush for the recording of both A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres, by Peter Hammill for 1973's Chameleon In The Shadow Of The Night and 1975's Nadir's Big Chance, and by Van der Graaf Generator for Godbluff and Still Life.
