Jul 2022. Lake Sorapis is to be found in the heart of the Dolomites, not far from the touristic town of Cortina. I knew that Instagram had transformed fresh cow milk to rotten cheese so I decided to leave early to reach the lake. We left from Passo Tre Croci at 5:30 AM following trail number 215.

The hike to Lake Sorapis starts in the forest where a walking path leads to trail 213. Continue on the trail until shortly after above the tree line where trail 213 intersects with trail 216. Turn left on trail 216 to continue towards Sorapis. After this point, the trail ascends above the tree line, opening views of the surroundings.

Le lac de Sorapis est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Au fond du lac, nous décidons de continuer sur le sentier bien marqué qui remonte dans un vallon, afin de pouvoir l'observer de plus haut. La pente sévère dissuade bon nombre de randonneurs qui restent sur les rives du lac. Dommage pour ceux qui ne montent pas un peu plus.
