Acer palmatum 'Moonfire' was selected from seedlings by Dick Wolff in Pennsylvania. It is a small, deciduous tree that grows to about ten to twelve feet tall. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9. Our specimen is growing in full sun and appears to be performing well. 'Moonfire' is in the Matsumurae Group. The leaves are a dark purple-red that lasts well into the summer.
