The Eilean Donan Castle
The castle had been occupied by Spanish troops who were supporting the Jacobites. On 10th May 1719, three British naval frigates sailed into Loch Duich and bombarded Eilean Donan Castle with cannon fire. They subsequently sent a detachment of marines ashore to capture and occupy the castle.

It is a beautiful picturesque castle. There is plenty of parking which you pay for and there are places to eat if you fancy something. The castle has a lot of history and is well worth a visit. The drove from Glencoe to Eilean Donan is just beautiful. The scenery is spectacular. Visited January 2023.
