430 Sep 4, 2017 #1 I'm trying to figure out the best way to attach a wrought iron buttcap to a hidden tang knife with a bog oak handle. I've come across a few ideas but I'm looking for a little advice on what might work best. I can't tap holes and I'm probably not going to be soldering anything, so what are my options? *****UPDATE*****

In this tutorial I will illustrate the methods that I used to create and assemble a through-tang handle and butt cap on a knife. A though-tang knife is one in which the handle extends the entire internal length of the handle. The tang is fastened to the handle by means of a cap located at the butt of the knife. The cap in this example is threaded.

Many times a solid brass butt cap makes the knife too "handle-heavy". I have ordered 4 Randalls for the Blade show in stainless with nickel silver double hilt and duralumin butt caps. 2 ea. Model #1's (a 6" & 7") and 2 ea. Model #2's (same: 6" & 7"). If it was strictly a "revenue issue" I would have ordered solid nickel silver butt caps @ $70.
